I have been thinking about this for a long time . It started when I first bought The Donna Summer Anthology album. I've decided to compile a selection of my own songs that bring back memories for me!
For the actual tape, I've edited some of the original songs for a shorter or extended play time, also adding some sound effects taken from other songs / album that I have. Strange? YES but not to me! I've recorded the tracks (JUST for me) into a double cassette, but I did not design any sleeve cover or even as a sketch (just an idea in my head). By now the idea has flown away!
The idea of compiling some of the songs I listen to may be great (to oneself) but the sound quality is, shall I say, not very professional. It was recorded from tape to tape (only 65 songs in X 2 of AD120 TDK acoustic dynamic cassette). The selections of songs shown here are a bit biased. One can't show all songs that have brought something special into one's life, right?
The songs from the WORLD section include Bollywood soundtracks, music from many other countries and some pop hits was not included in the tape. However while I'm updating the notes here, in a beautiful fresh Summer morning on Sunday (29 May 2011), 'WET' weather of UK (30 May 2011) and another free day (13 June 2011) I've decided to add some titles that would be interesting to share, listed as 'list re-added' or 'list added'. Why not?

My very first EP which I bought with my very own money given to me during the EID celebration. Imagine it, at five years old it was such an ecstatic moment! It's my EP found of the songs and the singer! I used to sing all four tracks and play it all the time. However it was also the song KU INGIN SELALU DI SAMPING MU (I LONG TO BE WITH YOU ALWAYS) that my mother played regularly when my father had been posted to The Phillipiens to work and did his MA Degree circa 1976. Lastly enjoy the song from YouTube, is a rather slow tune from the EP, titled TANGISAN SEMALAM (LAST NIGHT'S CRY).
5) BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY by THE FOUR SEASONS (list added 30 May 2011)
I just love this fun and catchy tune of the 60's. Listening to this song brought a lot of great memories. My mother used to play the compilation LP every now and then! As a little boy, I just adored the sound and looking, staring at the LP turning and turning on the turn table. 1976

7) KISAH NAN LALU (STORY OF THE DISTANT PAST) by SHARIFAH AINI (recorded as HUJAN MIX 95 for my home tape)
I used to sing this song when I was little in a car... once my parents stop playing their cassettes in the car. My parents would smile and my mother from time to time would turn her head and look at me and my sister. Maybe she said SHUT UP in her heart? Ha ha ha.
8) NIGHT IN LONDON by BOLLYWOOD NIGHT IN LONDON SOUNDTRACK (list added 29 May 2011) I remember my mother used to play this EP. Actualy it was my auntie's collection. When she bought a brand new HI-FI system, she give her old player to my mother including her EP's collection. I loved the track NIGHT IN LONDON...

9) NAMA MU TERUKHIR DI HATI KU (YOUR NAME IS IN MY HEART) by UJI RASHID What can I say? Love the song. I recalled, once me and my cousin recorded our voices in the bathroom, just to get the similar effect of it's recording! Ha ha ha those are the days.

WOW... I really like this duo. They were so popular in the 1970s and I really enjoy watching their weekly TV show at that time. Every Saturday night I would wait in front of the TV to watch their show.

I just love this tune... taken from my mother's LP titled HAPPY GUITAR.
12) VOULEZ-VOUS by ABBA The euro-pop sounds of ABBA were really big globally once. This song is one pop classic that the group had released.I Still have the same thrill when I listen to it. They remain as one of my favourite bands to date.

'IT'S MY DAY' I don't have the date... BUT I remember it was one Sunday afternoon at an area called Lucky Garden. My parents bought me this unofficial cassette entitled ALBUM KENAMAAN (a compilation of hits) by UJI RASHID. I was so excited. Not only because of the album, my parents also bought me some beautiful fish to be added into my aquarium. Now I'm older, all I remember at the time of writing this, it was one of my happiest days! We arrived home, and one of my sisters, Cha said "wow... it's your day" Ooooh YES...
14) KU KEJAR BAYANGAN MU (I'M CHASING YOUR SHADOW) by UJI RASHID & HAIL AMIR
I wanted the album for so long... begging my mother to buy the LP. Finally after a few tantrums I had to behave myself nicely to get my request. FINALLY the 'queen' of the house agreed to get the album. Saturday evening at 7.00 my parents bought it at our local record shop called Mr Yap. HAPPY AT LAST!

I just love this song, sexy and it has that WOW factor. My sister recorded the album for me from the ON THE RADIO GREATEST HITS VOLUMES I & II.

I got hold of the LP on Sunday, at a Lucky Garden record shop. I often sing to the melody. But it was my brother that first fancied the lead singer and bought the cassette in 1980.

After one year since I first watched a TV show, featuring the two sisters singing two tracks. Finally I managed to get my father to buy me the record at a music shop called Horizon, in Jaya Supermaket. (The song video mentioned above could not be located on YouTube).
18) TERBANG HELANG (FLY EAGLE) by SHARIFAH AINI
I wanted the LP so much and the song was so popular in Malaysia when it was released. Shall I say it still sounds great to date. One afternoon, my sister and my mother when out and when they return home, I opened up the door. To my surprised my sister hold the LP and show it off to my face! YA HOOOOO I got it... I got it... The date was 31 October 1981.
19) SUPER TROUPER by ABBA The cassette was a gift to me from my brother. I first hear the song many times on the radio also from our neighbour's house... it's a beautiful catch melody!
20) MERE NASEEM MEIN by BOLLYWOOD NASEEB SOUNDTRACK (list added 29 May 2011) It all started one afternoon after school, my mother took me and my sister to watch the film at the Sentosa Cinema. It's a typical Hindi film story line, representing the love triangle, greed and also the soundtracks! MERE NASEEM MEIN, JOHN JANI JANARDHAN and others...it was fun to listen to.

Another gift from my brother. He bought the LP with his scholarship money. I remember he said that he'll buy one of my choice and one for the family's flavour. It was at the very last school day. RAHSIAN HATI (MY HEART'S SECRET) starts off the B-side LP and what a great tune! You want to know my 'HEART'S' secret? OK... I always hated school!
22) LIKU CINTA (LOVE BENDS) by ROY and FRAN (recorded as RIPRISE 95 for my home tape)
Oh my, Oh my OH MY GOD! What an excellent tune. Do you know what I had to do to obtained this LP? Just in one day I had to memorise a morning 'prayer reading' in Arabic. HELP! Long gone was the 'tantrum' behaviour. Now I need to behave... My father said if I could read it to him, the LP will be mine. So I know this is the only way... oh YES I got it the same day.

23) MERPATI (PIGEON) by UJI RASHID (recorded as 95 MERPATI REPRISE for my home tape) YA HOOOOoooo I first recorded the song from the radio. A week later I got the LP. It was kind off, shall I say an early EID celebration gift.

I bought the two cassettes, SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY (Donna Summer) and THE VISITORS (Abba) on a Friday during the last of school term for 1983. I've walked from school to Mr Yap's shop - very rare for me at that time to walk! For the LOVE of music I just got to do it.

26) BEAT IT by MICHAEL JACKSON (recorded as 95 ASSASSIN REPRISE MIX for my home tape) One of my sisters went to America to study in 1982. She came home for the Summer holiday and the LP by Michael Jackson, THRILLER was a gift to me. Well, I did request it though! Poor sister had to get me the LP, but I thanked her. I still remember the smell of a fresh LP opened from it's sealed packaging - lovers of LP's will know what I'm talking about here.

28) DINO (DINO) by UJI RASHID HAPPY! I longed to get hold of this song and album. After five years waiting and wishing... FINALLY I my dream came true on the 28 July 1985. (Track not available)

All I remember was after school me and two friends (Noridah and Normadiah) still with our school uniform, we took a No.50 bus to a shopping mall called Jaya Supermarket. Basically I was too 'chicken' to go own my own! Ha ha ha, so my friends companied me there, for me to purchased the LP by Duran Duran called ARENA and Donna Summer's self titled album.
31) TAKE ON ME by A-HA I could say this was one of my first 7" singles from the UK, from my sister whom studied there. But it was her friend that came to our house and passed over her gift, my sister did not return home for holiday that Summer. Oh course I love all the singles... TAKE ON ME stood the most, A-HA become one of my favourite bands from that moment.
32) RINTIHAN RASA (FEELING OF SADNESS) by UJI RASHID and D J DAVE The first recording of this great tune was from the radio sometime in 1982! But on 3 November 1985 I managed to get the original song which featured in a various artists cassette. It was also the day I bought my VERY FIRST WALKMAN! Yey...

33) AKU INGIN DEKAT PADA MU (I WANT TO BE CLOSE TO YOU) by MAZUIN HAMZAH (recorded as ABDUL'S SIMPLE DRUM MIX for my home tape) One evening I bought a cassette titled TERBANG LAH KAU BURUNG (A BIRD IS FLYING) by Mazuin at Jaya Jusco, a departmental store in our area. At the same time there was also a funfair going on, and when I went on the 'big wheel' I sat with a famous Malaysian sports figure named Mustaz Jaafar. She was lovely. May I say, I went to the same school as Jaafar's sister and her sister and me knew one another.
34) PAPA DON'T PREACH by MADONNA (recorded as 95 TWO IN ONE LONG VERSION for my home tape) One popular song by the Queen Of Pop! It's kind of trendy for any young music buying market to listen to Madonna at that time... I'm one of many fans that enjoy this track. I bought the cassette TRUE BLUE in Fajar supermarket, on the 13 September 1986.
35) DANCING ON THE CEILING by LIONEL RICHIE Ooo La Laa! It's a FREE tape! OK, I don't remember the actual event dated the 13 September 1986, but all I remember when I wanted to pay for the cassette, I saw that money to the value of about 10.00 or 20.00 RM was on the payout desk. The cash could have been mine, I'm still opening my wallet when the cashier took the money on the desk and gave me the cassette. Oopsss... NOW, only GOD will know the truth. If, I was ever in the wrong... GOD PLEASE FORGIVE ME!
36) CHERI CHERI LADY by MODERN TALKING (list added 13 June 2011) I love this group and all their records. The song is taken from their second album called LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE which I bought on the 4 October 1986.
37) PENGEMIS MUDA (THE YOUNG BEGGAR) by Sheila Majid This song was played at school during a party to say 'goodbye' to all the new training teachers that taught at my school. I love the melody and the beat of the song.

38) THE FINAL COUNTDOWN by EUROPE (recorded as AFA'S NO1 REPRISE 88) One of the most popular rock tunes, it was recorded by my sister and she posted the tapes to me from the United Kingdom.
39) FANTASIA BULAN MADU (FANTASY OF THE HONEYMOON) by SEARCH Rock took the Malaysian music industry by storm in the late 1980s... All we heard on the radio was rock tunes. This is one of the biggest rock bands (in Malaysia) and one of their best hits also. I still love the song to date... But not known by many of the bands fans, the person who produced the song used to lived across from my parent's house. Once in a while he played and sang the song with his late wife on the piano, bringing a different feel to the song, a pop ballad! wow... now that's what I called a true melody.
40) RIVIVAL by MAYUMI ITSUWA (list added 29 May 2011) A very nice melody by one of Japan's most popular pop singers. I first listened to the song at a work place where the music department used to play the tune... It's sad, romantic and evergreen. I don't understand the words but music is a universal language. It brought a lot of memories listening to this song. A great time when me and some friends were working while waiting for our final school results.

41) I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY (WHO LOVES ME) by WHITNEY HOUSTON (recorded as 95 DANCE (2) 12" REMIX REPRISE for my home tape)
Who would not LOVE this song? A hit and Whitney Houston was at her best. I truly love the track, and the 12" sounds even better for the dance floor club lovers. I WANNA DANCE... was actually the first song that I've danced to in a club, at the place I used to work while waiting for my final school result called Jaya Jusco. We all danced to the song on one Sunday evening on the 24 February 1988.
42) HINGGA KE AKHIR WAKTU (UNTIL THE END OF TIME) by FRAN (recorded as 95 REPRISE for my home tape) It was 7 August 1988, Sunday when I bought the cassette. I also went to the departmental store's DJ booth in Jaya Jusco and dedicated the song to my parents and my sister.
43) RINDU KU SEMAKIN MENDALAM (MY LOVE IS DEEPER) by UJI RASHID (recorded as 95 RINDU LONG 1/2 MIX for my home tape) The first time I heard the long awaited song by Malaysian pop songstress, Uji Rashid was on the radio. Long after therelease, I bought the album at a record shop in Lucky Garden, which was the shop I first got hold of the singers first EP in1975! Can you believe that? And the cassette also was the last I bought from that shop...

44) TITIK BERMULA (THE BEGINNING) by RAJA EMA (recorded as 95 BERMULAH KISAH MIX for my home tape) Nice tune and lyrics... I played this song as my 19th birthday song.
45) THIS TIME I KNOW IT'S FOR REAL by DONNA SUMMER (recorded as 12" REMIX 95 RIPRISE for my home tape) Finally what I've been waiting for I finally get to see the video! Well it was during a 'fasting' season... so I've had to pray in the mosque shorter than usual. My idea was to drive my own car there rather than following my parents. This way, I could left the prayer and hop up in the car, GO HOME to record the video from a show called The Chart Attack. Yaaa Hooooo.

I bought the cassette on the 2 July 1991 when it was re-released for the EMI 25th Anniversary. Just before I moved to the UK, I worked in the Federal Hotel, looking after the Gift Centre shop... I played it so loud until one day one of the managers happened to pass by and gave a sign to quieten it down... OOOppssss.
48) EVERYBODY'S FREE TO FEEL GOOD by ROZALLA (recorded as LONDON 95 BELL MIX for my home tape) 49) LOVE TO HATE YOU by EREASURE These two songs were so popular on the radio. I first moved to the UK and often heard them on the radio. But I didn't know the names of the singers. Until one of the students in my college told me who the singers were. The songs were kind off having a sentimental value to me as they remind me of when I moved and started a new life in the UK.

The three cassette singles I first obtained when I've moved to UK. It was I think, a free voucher given from Barclays Bank to their new client. I got it with some friends at Our Price record shop during a college trip to York on the 5 October 1991. I must say, I thought the Whitney and Jason Donavon single came with remixes but in actual fact cassette single does not come with any extra remixes. Only Gloria Estefan's titled THE 12" TAPES single was produced with remixes of her hits. 1992
53) WORK THAT MAGIC by DONNA SUMMER My first Donna Summer cassette in the UK. I love the album MISTAKEN IDENTITY. And Work That Magic is my favourite tune...as it's not a CD or LP, I had to rewind the tape over and over again to hear this particular track! I LOVE it so much up to the present day.
54) E=MC2 by BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE (recorded as 95 REPRISE for my home tape) This home recording tape was given to me by a friend named Mark. I love the selection he recorded and the song E=MC2 stood in my mind as I used to play it during Easter holiday.
55) GUBAHAN RINDU PUISI SYAHDU (A COMPOSITION OF A ROMANTIC POEM) by FAUZIAH LATIFF (recorded as TALIFON 95 MIX for my home tape) I love this song.
56) IT'S MY LIFE by DR ALBAN The song I danced to in a club! LOVE IT.
57) EROTICA by MADONNA (recorded as 95 CALAR MIX for my home tape) I bought this cassette with my college friends Grovender and Parish on the way back home. I put on this song a lot while getting ready to go clubbing every Friday and Saturday night...at times the student night too... I used to put it on my walkman on the way to work to Providen after college.
58) SOMEDAY I'M COMING BACK by LISA STANDFIELD This song was a hit... I recalled that winter feeling in Bradford, Christmas holiday and also remembering the time, preparing to go to work with some friends with Providen.

59) LOVE HOUSE by SAMANTHA FOX While me, Khairol, Sam, Dina, Paula and Lynn busied ourselves dancing to this tune in Cecil Avenue, suddenly we heard a knock on the wall (we think) so we thought the neighbour must have complained about the loud music... But in actual fact the 'knocking door' sound we heard was on the song! We had great times as students.)
60) ALL MY LOVING by LOS MANOLOS (list added 30 May 2011) I bought this cassette on the 3 February 1993 during my college trip to BENIDORM! YEP that's the place. What was it like? Eeemm it was OK really. This song always reminded me about the trip. Study and party. At one time me and some friends went clubbing from 11.00pm to 8.00am!
61) COULD YOU BE LOVED by BOB MARLEY (list added 30 May 2011) During a study trip to Benidom, Spain I followed friends to Benidom's local bars and pubs. Interestingly they play a lot of Bob Marley's songs. So I asked Lee, a friend from college, who is this song by... and since that very moment I became a fan of Bob Marley.
62) I'M EVERYWOMEN by WHITNEY HOUSTON (recorded as 95 1/2 LONG VERSION for my home tape) At times I danced to the song in a club, at times with Liz in her room and at times I danced with Khairol in his shared house. We used to dance on his bed as his room was quite small. A neighbour across the road always peeped on us while he cooked in the kitchen (he's a fellow student too). ONCE he was so occupied watching us dancing, his stove caught FIRE! ha ha ha.
63) I'M A JAIMAICAN IN NEW YORK by SHINEHEAD I LOVE THIS TRACK. The first time I heard this song was in Satya's room in McMillan Hall Of Residence, Bradford. 64) ONE NIGHT IN HEAVEN by M PEOPLE (list added 13 June 2011)

65) I CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU by UB40 (recorded as 95 SHORT VERSION for my home tape) 66) STAY by KENNY THOMAS Two tracks that reminded me of summer time in Cecil Avenue around June to July. I had to rent one of the rooms in the house as I had missed the flight home for August. Due to the last minute ticket booking there weren't any flights to Malaysia until July. I bought both singles on the 7 July 1993.
67) FEELING GOOD by NINA SIMONE (recorded as GETTING NINA 95 MIX for my home tape) 68) HERE COMES THE SUN by NINA SIMONE (recorded as GOOD BYE NINA 95 MIX for my home tape) I watched the remake of a French film titled THE ASSASSIN in Bradford, Odean Cinema on Wednesday 7 July 1993. Instantly I fell in love with the soundtrack and Nina Simone. I knew I was moving to Leicester in September away from my friends so HERE COMES THE SUN and I'M FEELING GOOD was kind off my new life soundtrack. This film soundtrack also opened a new musical horizon for me simply called JAZZ. 69) AKU SEBUTIR PASIR (I'M A GRAIN OF SAND) by FAUZIAH LATIFF

70) I'M A RAINBOW by DONNA SUMMER The track here was taken from my very first CD, THE DONNA SUMMER ANTHOLOGY. I bought it with Adrian and Sophie at MG Records, on Friday at 11.50am, 21 January 1994. Finally I got to hear the unreleased tracks by Donna Summer and the long awaited CARRY ON! (Please note: the track Carry On was deleted from my home tape)
71) WHAT IS LOVE by HADDAWAY (list re-added 29 May 2011 this song was deleted from the home tape. It was replace with Without You by Mariah Carey) The original notes for this track was: One of the sweetest memory on the 16 June 1994 at 1.45am until 12 July at 3.45am. Aaaaheemmmm well, well I wonder what that was!
72) WITHOUT YOU by MARIAH CAREY She was popular at this time... a cover of a 1970s hit. Some how I just love they way Mariah Carey used her vocal in this song.
73) YOUR THE BEST THING by D:REAM You know what? I still love this song... it really brought back memories of weekends away to visit my friends in Bradford for Easter break.
74) ANGGAPAN MU (YOUR PRESUMPTIONS) by ZIANA ZAIN (list re-added 28 May 2011 this song was deleted from the home tape. It was replace with YOU'RE THE BEST THING by D:REAM) My favourite song at the time. I saw the film titled SEMBILU, which featured the actress who performs this track. Me, Narreque and Sam watched it in the capital city of Malaysia in one of the cinemas in Central Market on the 22 August 1994 at 3.30pm, during my Summer vacation.
75) YOU DON'T LOVE ME (NO, NO, NO) by DAWN PENN (list added 13 June 2011) I enjoy every minute of the song, I finally IT'S MINE on the 14 December 1994 after searching for it 'high & low' at everyrecord shops in my town. This is due to the fact that the single is no longer in the British music chart.

76) WARNA (COLOUR) by SHEILA MAJID I love this 'modern' Malaysian jazz composition which was released 1988. The notes I have here stated it was my first Malaysian CD posted by my father. But I can't recall which album it was taken from.
77) MENTERA SEMERAH PADI (THE RED RICE) by M NASIR (recorded as 95 INTERNATIONAL NIGHT VERSION for mu home tape) 78) MANUSIA (HUMAN) by SHEILA MAJID (recorded as 96 REPRISE for my home tape) Two songs represent my new experience, performing at my university's 95 International Night event. MENTERA SEMERAH PADI was the opening for our traditional martial art dance. The song was re-mixed by me adding some special effect allowing some opening before the actual performance took place. The song MANUSIA played for fellow students showcasing Malaysian traditional outfit at the fashion show at the same event on the 5 February 1995. It was a great night.
79) CINTA ABADI (TRUE LOVE) by UJI RASHID and HAIL AMIR (list added 13 June 2011) I was so excited about Uji Rashid's new recording. I bought the album at a music shop on the night out clubbing with some friends. As soon as my return home I played the album in my room around 4.00am listening to it over and over again until 6.30am... what a great production. (Track not available)
80) BREATH OF HEAVEN by DONNA SUMMER (recorded as ABDUL'S EDIT for my home tape) It's heaven! Donna Summer's voice is just too good... It was my first Christmas CD that I ordered from HMV. A standard holiday season CD I often play during Christmas time.

THE HISTORY
The idea of this home tape took place in December 1993. The songs were selected between April 1994 to June and July 1995. My first taping was in April 1995. I re-recorded it in July 1995. From my notes the re-recording started in February 1996. I noted that it took me twenty eight months for this concept home recording to be completed!

ONCE UPON A TIME...
...in 1979 there was an ORDINARY GIRL singing LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY on my TV. Her names kept on appearing on my sibling's compilation tapes. Her pictures were all over the record shops. Still didn't know much until I got hold of ON THE RADIO album in 1982.
Hm'... so one may have said 'WOMAN' you are 'HOT STUFF!' Ever since that very day, that individual who's name is 'DONNA SUMMER' become one of my favourite stars in pop music. Her songs have affected MY LIFE in some other ways.
Yes... I REMEMBER YESTERDAY, when I had been laughed at, doors had been slammed in my face and complaints about the loud music I had been playing. If that was not bad enough, in June 1993 I had lost my voice due to dancing and singing along to 3 non-stop 12"s of Donna Summer in a club. NO MORE TEARS, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH that is all in the past.
In 1995, THIS TIME I KNOW IT'S FOR REAL when I chose that ORDINARY GIRL for my TV set design project. It was an Arts And Talk Show that represents Donna Summer as the host. The concept is based on the characteristics of Donna Summer. The design represented a bright lively set with good use of colours, shapes and reflections. Due to the interesting concept, I obtained an 'A' for that project. Who knows SOMEDAY soon the project might be in my future Donna Summer web site.
Now it is 1998, that ORDINARY GIRL once titled 'The First Lady Of Love'& 'The Queen Of Disco' is coming to her50th birthday. A note from someone unknown: 'I wish you A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY'
Hello there... So many of us have friends surrounding our lives.
How many friends can one have? The number is endless. Still you just need that one or two very good friends. True friends will stick with you in the good times and the bad times. Thick and thin, true friendship will always be with you.
Truly only through your own experience can you explain the true meaning of 'friendship'. It sounds a cliché but friendship might not always will be with you forever. Those feelings between friends sometime change and you might grow apart! Sad but true. Sometimes is due to life, marriage, the world we are living in and simply being human. Still there are some friends that you used to know and may have lost contact with but once you meet or even make that one phone call, you are brought back into the ties of closeness again! It is like you have never been apart! Well, that has happened to me and I know this surely has happened to you also at some point!
Most of these stories about friendship have been told in many songs recorded by many recording acts. I love the songrecorded by Dionne Warwick 'What's Friends Are For' simply sharing the sweet emotions of beautiful friendship.
While 'Friends' by Jody Watley, which reminds you to 'watch out' for false friends of yours!
A song by Corinne Bailey Rae 'Put Your Records On' is a tribute to your friendship. Many popular movies and TV series have had the theme of friendship such as 'Three's Company', 'Friends', 'Sex And The City' and many more...
Social media has taken the world by storm. Many of us use social net working simply to promote our businesses, advertise our personal interests or even to make new friends! The oldest social network site I could remember was MIRC and some people have used it and believe it or not even got married!
The late Donna Summer recorded a song titled 'Friends Unknown' for all her fans. So true in the song... popular social networking sites are a real life example of the song. Some people like this new way of life and others think it is sad...
Hey... only you who can answer the questions about friendship. Friends makes you laugh, cry but sometimes they can drive you crazy!!!! I guess it is normal to have these feelings between friends because you feel the closeness with the friendship! I think 'Friends Never Say Goodbye' by Elton John is one example.

To my surprised, today I've received a package containing a CD by The Three Degrees '3D'. I was introduced to the album way back in 1979, by my sister. I love the tracks from the first moment she played the album. A couple of years ago, I bought the LP at a CD fare. As soon as I found out the album was re-mastered with extra 12" versions I wanted it. Ha ha ha, but I did not know that my friend have decided to purchased it as a gift for me. THANKS MAN...

Today I bought two new CDs with a friend. I always wanted the CD after seeing the singer (Imelda May) performed live on TV. I love the album titled 'MAYHEM'. Another CD that I bought was by The Pointer Sisters. Oh YES, I have been looking high and low for the 12" Version of 'I'M SO EXCITED' and 'DARE YOU' for years! FINALLY I got it... compiled in a greatest hits CD - 'GOLDMINE: THE BEST OF THE POINTER SISTERS'.

A brand new year! I was at home 'relaxing' and I decided to watch some old VHS tapes that I've recorded many years ago. The shows are from the BBC jazz series from Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington to Louis Armstrong. Billie, Dinah and Louis have recorded many great tunes. They have also recorded one jazz track that I love so much titled 'All Of Me'. From the three recordings, one version that I love most was recorded by Billie Holiday. It's so beautiful and I just love Billie's voice. This is her version.

Bryan Ferry's NEW CD! An e-mail noted that if I would like to be the 100 LUCKY fans to be able to meet the star and to purchase the advance copy that will be signed by him. WOW I'll say YES...! 59 minutes later I received an e-mail stated that I've won a moment with the star at Selfridges London, I'm on the list of lucky winners. Huraayyyyyyyy... I can't wait. 13 / 09 /2010 I was at a record store and I saw a CD by Joshua Radin. Who is he? The CD cover looks very interesting and it was in the sale for £3.00. I put it back and never thought about it at all. But after a few days later, I went back to the shop and I've decided to give it a try and purchased the album. To my surprised I love the CD.

I've written Uji Rashid's biography in Malay and English for the page. 22 / 06 / 2010 12th Year Anniversary of my 12" single of 'WORK THAT MAGIC' by Donna Summer. I bought the single 6 years after the original sale date at a CD fare. The song is still one of my best track to date. 15 / 06 / 2010 Do you remember yesterday's music? Well I do! There are so many music I have put on (old & new) while I'm working on my DONNA SUMMER book. Just name it from the 1970s classic Bollywood songs from the film 'Julie' and 'Chalte Chalte' to Gloria Gaynor's 'I WILL SURVIVE' to my new CDs. I must say that at present CD's by Sade 'SOLDIER OF LOVE', Jamie Cullum 'THE PURSUIT', Corinne Bailey Rae 'THE SEA', Madonna 'HARD CANDY', Mariah Carey 'E=M2' to the 'SEX IN THE CITY 2 SOUNDTRACK' - are the new playlist. I have taken a break almost a week from the book project and today I'm back on track.

Stop Look And Listen - I have been listening to a lot of music today while working on the book project. Not only records by Donna Summer but also by Jody Watley 'MIDNIGHT LOUNGE', Nina Simone 'MY BABY JUST CARES FOR ME' to world music acts such as Uji Rashid 'BISIKAN HATI', Sheila Majid 'WARNA' and more. The best part of it all, I have received an e-mail from Donna Summer's management (a reply to my e-mail) about my tribute project. I am thrilled at least they are aware of the venture... 2009 06 / 12 / 2009 Wow what a day! I'm so excited... I finally found some of my music WISH LIST. Hu Raaayyyy. Thank you to Baya, my friend. She took me to the antique collectors and second hand record place. I found lots of the LP's that I wanted for so long. To name a few, Donna Summer 'LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY' that included 'Virgin Mary' - I could not find it in the UK but I got all the way in Malaysia! Also three LP's of my friend and favourite singer Uji Rashid's 1976, 1977 and the best was 'BISIKAN HATI'. I looked at Baya and I said "Oh my... I was looking for the LP since 1988". She smiled and I got it. However 'BISIKAN HATI' condition was not very good. So my search on 'BISIKAN HATI' will continue. But I had a GREAT time out with my friend. Thank you dear old friend.

Today I re-arranged my LP's collection at my parents'. Just in time for my afternoon shower I put on the LP by Kenny Thomas titled 'WAIT FOR ME'. What a great album. I did questioned myself why on this GOD GREEN EARTH, I did not keep the LP in my UK home? Instead I shipped it to my parents in Malaysia. Well anyway, it is here and I'm going to listen to Kenny's album until my return to the UK. 'STAY', 'PEICE BY PIECE', 'TRIPPIN' ON YOUR LOVE' and lots more seems to get me dancing.

WOW what can I say? I finally had the chance to listen to the project of 'THE MAKEOVER INTERNATIONAL' by Jody Watley. FAB tracks. I'm IN LOVE with the new smooth version of''WAITING IN VAIN' - the song has been one of my regular playlist. The first version of the song was released in 2007 (dance upbeat concept) taken from 'THE MAKEOVER' album. So let's dance to 'THE MAKEOVER'.

HISTORY! BREAKING NEWS! My DONNA SUMMER book is on its WAY! As noted from the publisher: 'With further reference to our letter...we found Donna Summer...to be an interesting work. The essential information is all there...We confirm that we would be pleased to work with you to publication'. I'm so thrilled! The manuscript was mailed to the publisher on the 21 September 2009, I must say that at first I was so worried to open up the e-mail, but HEY!!! Love it Love it.

It was a relaxing morning for me and I have decided to take a walk to town hoping that I might get LUCKY! Actually I was hunting for one of the most 'talk' album, 'I LOOK TO YOU' by Whitney Houston. I went to the counter of the music store and ask for the CD. YES lucky indeed, when finally I got hold of the very last copy imported from the US. I went home straight away and I played the CD. LOVING every minute of it. 'FOR THE LOVERS' is my FAVOURITE song from the album and I know I will be playing this CD for a very long time!

My oh My it was 15 years ago (today) that I bought my VERY 1st CD - 'THE DONNA SUMMER ANTHOLOGY'. I bought it at a local record shop in Leicester called MG at 11.50 am with two friends Adrian and Sophie. What a day. We went home to Adrian's room to play the CD. The other two friends was busy talking to each other but me... I was in my own little world listening to the CD. My friends are not a big fan of Donna Summer but since it was my birthday they can not say anything! ha ha ha.

'OPEN YOUR HEART' YES why NOT? Anyway I was looking at my music collection today and suddenly I came across M PEOPLE's 12". Wow I realised that I bought the 12" as a gift to myself for achieving Second Upper class (2.1) for my BA (Hons) in Interior Design 12 years ago! M PEOPLE was HOT at that time! 23 / 06 / 2008 I was at work and just can not wait for my lunch break! Yes RUSH RUSH... I GOT IT, I GOT IT... the album that I've been waiting for. Its Donna Summer's 'CRAYONS'. Lets dim all the lights and enjoy; 'THE QUEEN IS BACK', 'MR MUSIC', 'CRAYONS', 'IT'S ONLY LOVE', 'BE MYSELF AGAIN'& more... all GREAT tunes. I love it.

I was amassed by this world music track I've listened earlier on today title 'HILANG RESAH TIMBUL SAYANG' recorded by Uji Rashid and D J Dave in 1976. I first listened to the song in the late 1980's on the radio and yes at that time I could not find the track in any albums because it was no longer available. I really wanted the track and I was looking high and low for the album. By LUCK on the 31 May 2005 I finally found the original LP, at a second hand record shop in Kuala Lumpur. I was so HAPPY and GOD only knows how I felt that very moment when I saw the LP in front of my eyes! It took me over 20 years to get hold of this track. Of course the price that I paid for is higher compared when it was first on sale. But it was worth it and I got it at the end! Thank you also to my friend, Khairol who took me there when I am on Holiday in Malaysia. Just because I LOVE MUSIC...
